The metrics are the best ally to be able to evaluate the shared content in social networks. It is very important to measure performance of your contents to be able to correct and improve all the actions that we are implementing in our online strategy. If you have a business, it is vital to generate useful content to achieve conversions, build customer loyalty and generate traffic to your website.

But how do you know that your message is being effective and meets our expectations? The answer to this question is in the metrics.

What are the most important metrics for social networks?

Each social network offers a multitude of metrics and all provide valuable information, but in order to define which are the most important metrics, you must first analyze the purpose of your publications on social networks, since we are talking about unique and non-transferable analytics that are intimately linked to the reason for your brand.

If some of your goals are in the following list, then the 5 metrics that we will propose will be key in your analysis report:

Increase sales conversions
Carry traffic to the website
Increase the number of followers in RRSS
Get more leads
Create community

Metric # 1: The number of Followers

This metric is the most basic and probably one of the metrics that most obsess brands and companies. If you want to increase visibility of your brand and your products, it is important to create a large and loyal community.

Once you start to actively participate in social networks you will notice that your community will begin to grow. Keep in mind that not all social networks are the same and you will have to experience which social network best suits your goals. If you take for example, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and note that the Instagram community grows much faster and is more active perhaps you should choose to rethink the strategy on Facebook and Twitter.

Of course, in each social network you should communicate in a different way and the messages generate another type of engagement according to the community.

Metric # 2: Reach

When we measure «Reach» we are measuring the number of people who saw an activity on your page, including the publications through other people (friends of friends), mentions and visits.

Thanks to this metric you will be able to measure what contents help to increase the visibility of your brand.

Metric # 3: Engagement

With «Engagement» we can measure the degree of involvement that your fans have with your content. Through this metric we can know the level of influence your brand has in the community.

The engagement is measured through the number of «ILikes», the number of shares, the number of comments and mentions of the brand.

Metric # 4: Interaction

When we talk about interaction we are talking about the active actions that your followers take with your publications. The number of times they click, leave a comment, share or simply indicate that they liked the publication.

This is one of the metrics for social networks that involve more elements, since it has to do with engagement, with brand perception, possible insights and the distinction of the company against its competition.

Metric # 5: Mentions

If you want to know the popularity of your brand it is important to measure the mentions. This allows us to measure who speaks of us and what they say exactly. Thanks to this metric we can measure what specific content they have liked, what are the best moments to share your content, the level and commitment but also the opinion of your community.

It is always very interesting to get some mentions of influencers as this brings a lot of confidence to your brand. If you are interested in knowing more about strategies with influencers, we invite you to know the platform of one of the companies in the group: Fheel.
